The Dutchman enjoyed a successful World Cup in 2010 and went from strength to strength in 2011. He matched the Premier League record for goals scored between January 1 and the end of a season, netting 18 times in 19 appearances. What's more, Robin set a new mark for scoring in consecutive away matches.
Robin's quality has never been in doubt. He is an expert goal-taker and goal-maker with a penchant for free-kicks. That description fitted another of Arsenal’s famous Dutchmen and it was no surprise when the 28-year-old took Dennis Bergkamp’s No 10 shirt when it became available last season.
At times, injury has hampered his contribution but Robin is experienced, tenacious and passionate. He will literally lead Arsenal’s attack this season and, if he stays fit, you can count on the captain for goals.
Robin van Persie was a 'non-homegrown' player in Arsenal's official 2010/11 Premier League squad.

The England international was unplayable at times and, although injuries derailed him from time to time, he still managed 13 goals and a smattering of assists.
Theo joined Arsenal from Southampton in January 2006 with a reputation as a speed merchant. His lightning pace is still his biggest asset but Theo's decision-making and all-round game has improved year on year.
Theo he has chosen some big Champions League games in which display his finest work - Barcelona 2010 and Liverpool 2008.
He remains a winger for now but Arsène Wenger still sees a striker in him. Wherever he plays there is more to come from Theo Walcott.
Theo Walcott was under the age of 21 on January 1, 2010 and therefore it was not necessary to name him in Arsenal's official Premier League squad.

A quick winger who is equally comfortable as an attacking central midfielder, the teenager moved to the Club from Southampton, where he made 44 appearances during his time on the south coast.
Joining the Southampton Academy at the age of seven, Alex quickly excelled through the ranks of the club's successful youth set-up and made his first-team debut in March 2010 at the age of just 16 years and 199 days.
After sealing the deal to bring the young prospect to Emirates Stadium, Arsène Wenger said: "We are delighted that Alex has decided to join us.
"He is an exciting young player who will provide us with creativity and offensive quality. Alex is a versatile player who can play in a number of positions. He can play as an attacking centre midfielder, or wide left and right.
"Alex is a perceptive passer of the ball and has a great understanding of the game and looks to be a very good team player."

The Arsenal manager finally got his man at the end of May 2010 and, in the first half of Marouane's debut season, we found out what the fuss was all about as he made his mark on the Premier League.
At Bordeaux, the Moroccan international built a reputation as a strong-running, intelligent centre forward. His contribution helped them to the French title and the latter stages of the Champions League.
His willing work-rate endeared him to the Arsenal supporters in the embryonic stages of his North London career. So did the goals. Expect him to reach a new level in his second season.

That was the verdict of Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger after it was announced that Ryo was to join the Club on a long-term contract in January.
The young Japanese forward is a real prospect and impressed during a trial in the summer of 2010 when he featured in pre-season friendlies against Boreham Wood and AFC Wimbledon.
In order to gain valuable experience and develop his game, Ryo has joined Dutch Eredivisie side Feyenoord on loan for the remainder of the 2010/11 season.
“We wish him luck in Rotterdam with Feyenoord and we look forward to helping him with his continued progression when he returns to Arsenal,” said Wenger.

The powerful forward struck a couple of crucial last-gasp goals to keep his side in the title race. Had Arsène Wenger’s men gone on to lift the title then his strikes against Hull and Wolves would have been almost mythical.
In the end, they just went to prove the superb contribution the great Dane can make either up front or out wide.
Injury cost him the start of the 2010/11 season however he remains a resourceful front man, capable of the creation and execution of goals.

Physically strong and reassuringly tall, the French midfielder can transform defence into attack with a twist, a turn and a driving run. What's more he loves to get forward to support the attack and contributes his fair share of goals.
Abou used to operate on the left of midfield but he has benefited from Arsenal's switch to a 4-2-3-1 formation and now he spends more time in his favoured central role.
A graduate of the famous Clairefontaine Academy near Paris, Abou captained France Under-19s to success in the 2005 European Championship.

The Czech provides guile and valuable experience whenever he gets a game and, despite that lengthy lay-off, appears to have lost none of the craft, cleverness or final-third invention that makes him so easy on the eye.
Tomas scored a rare header last season against Leyton Orient but it's fair to say he doesn't get among the goals as he used to after scoring 13 times in his first two years with the Gunners.
However, his eye for an opening can still break down the most stubborn of defences.

Signed from Cardiff in the summer of 2008, the Wales international appears to have it all: technique, vision, workrate, an eye for goal and a range of passing that makes him a perfect fit for Arsenal's engine room.
Aaron made great strides in his first season, bossing a Champions League game at Olympiacos and scoring his first goals in the Premier League and at international level.
His steady progess was checked by a sickening injury suffered at Stoke in February 2010 but Aaron has put that behind him and showed he was back to his best with the winner against Manchester United last term.
Now captain of his country and a vital cog in the Arsenal midfield, Aaron is ready to go from strength to strength this season.

Strong in the tackle, positionally aware and a good distributor of the ball, he is becoming a master at protecting his back four, breaking up opposition forays and initiating attacks.
Arsène Wenger's 4-2-3-1 formation allowed Alex to flourish last season in his preferred position behind the more attack-minded midfielders. His partnership with Jack Wilshere would prove to be the backbone of the Arsenal side.

The young midfielder could represent either but, in the short-term, he just wants to play for Arsenal after spending the majority of last season on the sidelines.
That dream moved closer to reality with another strong pre-season showing where Emmanuel impressed in Arsenal's engine room. There's no doubt he has the physique to flourish in a defensive midfield role and his passing is solid if not spectacular.
